THE HISTORY OF IBEW LOCAL 1902
IBEW came over when some investors purchased the gas part of Duke power and named it
Piedmont Natural Gas in 1950 . There where 4 IBEW local that where at PNG
IBEW LOCAL 407 - representing the employees in Greensboro and High Point branches
IBEW LOCAL 962 - representing the employees in the Charlotte and Salisbury branches
IBEW LOCAL 913 - represnting the employees in the Winston Salem and Mount Airy branches
IBEW LOCAL 957 - representing the employees in South Carolina branches in the cites of Anderson ,
Greenville , Spartanburg.
The officers of those Locals came together and in 1954 a charter was formed on June 5 1954 to
form a new local which is now IBEW Local Union 1902 . Local 1902 will have been around for
56 years this June 5 2010 and will be 58- 60 years counting the years when it was locals 407, 913
