Employee In Hickory not getting sick time

Postby Admin » Sun Dec 27, 2009 11:23 am

There was an employee in Hickory district that has been very sick and the employees in the area wanted toi give sick time to him because the company had let them do it in the pass. The company told them that they could not do it. Local President Bill Shirley called Juan Williams the H/R manager he told Bill that it was the Union fault for not being able to do it .. Well there where none union employee that could do it and they where not able to fo it because he was a Union employee . (why) The thing was could transfer sick time but the District shop Stewart want to give him Vacation ans could not. Bill got into a argument with Juan and later hung up on him .

The next day Juan and MIcheal Yount show up in Hickory with a check and the employee to lunch .During the lunch they both told the employee that it was the Union fault he could not recieve the sick time from other employees,

Well earlier this year the company and representives of the Union and the International Representive met with the company they offered changes in the Diciplary policy and the sick time plan where you can give your time to another employee. We agreed with the changes but not with one part in the Discplinary policy . I asked him can we make and adjustment on the policy because THE LETTER STAYING IN AN EMPLOYEES FILE AND NOT BEING REMOVED WAS A VERY BAD IDEA. we also said that it eill come back later and be used by supervisors. We stated examples when it happened . I told Juan that we will need to meet with all the Union Shop stewarts and they will need
to talk to employees in there areas to get a vote,.

We all got on a conference call with Juan and he explained this to everyone but the catch was he need an answer right then and there over the call. I told Juan they need to take it back for a vote and could not answer right then.
All the Shop stewarts asked for modification on the part about the letters staying in a EMPLOYEES FILE FOREVER
we where told take it as it stands or none thing at all. They told him as i did they could not agree with it and needed to take it back to get a vote . I told the group top have a meeting and get back with me about the vote.
Juan still wanted an answer right then we told him NO not without a meeting wieh members. Again tolf him we liked everything but the LETTERS NOT BEING REMOVED FROM AND EMPLOYEES FILE

My meeting with Charlotte employees and they all did not agree with the letter staying in the file and said no not to take it and that was the same from all the other employees in the other districts that came to there meetings.

WE THE UNION AS HOLD DID NOT AGREE WITH THE PROPOSAL BECAUSE THE COMPANY WAS UNWILLING TO MAKE MODIFICATIONS ON THE LETTER STAYING IN AND EMPLOYEES FILE FOREVER., they said it would be inactive but everyone agreed that they would being it back up and use it against that employee.
